Belly Up With Jane's Addiction For New Years Eve

Jane's Addiction just off the heels of their first tour in 17 years have announced a New Years Eve show at Belly Up in Aspen CO.   Details are as follows: Eric Avery could not make this date, so Chris Chaney bass player from the 2003 Strays album will be filling in. Eric will be back for the Australia dates. There is a ton of speculation on the Jane's message boards as to why Eric isn't playing this date. All the theories are being floated from he is quitting the band to he just doesn't want to do a show on New Years. The Jane's Addiction saga continues and we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. Either way it's another Jane's show, it's going to be epic. Now fans may be able to hear some music from the Strays album which they stayed away from on the NINJA tour. Tickets are pricey but it is New Years and it is Aspen. Tickets are on sale now get them now before they're gone

New Product: Safe Food Handling With FlavorSafe Online

Hello friends,

I would like to introduce a product to you that I think is of great value and can be helpful in ensuring that you serve quality, safe food at your parties, events, or your dinner table. A good friend of mine Tom Uss invented this great product called Flavorsafe Gateway Technology, and now he is set up and ready to take your orders. His invention includes a line of quality USDA approved pans, covers, and assembly knobs. This product will allow you to cook within the confines of USDA rules and regulations as far as safe food handling and cooking temperatures are concerned. The replacement knob assembly that can be added to any pot cover allows you to slide your thermometer right through a hole in the top. It's innovative and cutting edge technology that you're not going to find any where else but at FlavorSafe. I have tried it in my home and I love it. These pans never stick. I know they all say that, however I have yet to have any sauce, gravy, soups, etc... burn or stick using these pans. Even when left on the stove unattended or forgotten.Watch Tom's video posted on his front page for demos of the product and other useful information. Feel free to email Tom with any questions at vision2000inc@aol.com

This is a great gift for any restaurantuer, chef, or just some one who loves to cook at home. Get one for someone you know this holiday season and cook your roasts, hams, beans and yams using Flavorsafe Technology. Tell them you found out about it at The Cosmic Vibes Blog and receive a 10% discount using "socha" as the code until 12/31/09.

Happy Holidays and cook safe for your guests

ICE On The Potomac At The Gaylord National

The Gaylord National Resort's ICE exhibit is a must see. Before I get to ICE, I'll tell you a little bit about National Harbor and the great town that it is. National Harbor is a new city just developed and is now starting to come to life. With over 15 restaurants and many shops of all different types including a Peeps candy store, there is something to offer for just about everyone. They have also moved the Awakenings statue from Haines Point in the District to the waterfront at National Harbor. I was opposed to this move when I heard about it. As a big fan and frequent visitor of Haines Point and the statue, I thought it was a bad move. Now that I have seen its new home I approve of it's beautiful back drop of the mighty Potomac and new Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

One more thing before I get to ICE. Out of the many restaurants to choose from we chose Cadillac Ranch. We started out with the most amazing MD crab soup I've ever had. They brought out a bowl with a crab fritter in it, then poured the soup over the fritter right in front of us. Aside from how delicious it was, the fritter was crispy and stayed that way because it did not soak in the soup. Absolutely to die for. I thought about it for days. I had the "rockwich" rockfish sandwich. The "rockwich" was also delightful. Two huge pieces of fried rockfish with cheddar lettuce tomato. My girlfriend had the BBQ pulled sandwich. Of course being the food critic that I am, I had to try it as well and it was also outstanding. Now the service on the other hand was a little shaky. We waited 25 minutes between our soup and sandwich's and it wasn't even that busy. After we finished eating, our food was delivered again which indicated to us that he forgot to put our order in the first time. I would definitely go back though, it happens.

ICE was the most amazing artistry I have ever encountered. It is part of National Harbor's and Gaylord's Christmas on the Potomac. ICE! is a holiday attraction created from of 5,000 BLOCKS of ice, hand-sculpted by 40 international artisans and kept at 9 degrees Fahrenheit. When I heard about this on the news I just had to check it out. The woman said it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Now I have to agree with her. It was just a great experience, we even slid down the ice slide to bring back memories of being a kid. I highly recommend checking it out. It makes for a great date or day trip with the family.

Hours: Open daily, November 19, 2009 through January 10, 2010 (hours will vary)

Thank You Readers

I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of my readers. I don't know actually how many of you there are, however I just passed the 5000 hit mark on my page. I consider that to be somewhat of an accomplishment. If  I had only one reader, that alone would inspire me enough to pass along information that I hope is a value to you. I especially want to thank the people who actually inspired me to start this blog and helped convince me that it was a good idea. I feel that it was a good idea, and writing almost 100 articles in less than a year has been a lot of  fun. I have always wanted to be able to write in ways that would reach and hopefully inspire other people. I wanted to somehow be involved in some sort of journalism. This provides me with a platform to do so. I remember back when the Hartford Whalers left Hartford, I wrote an editorial to The Hartford Courant. When it got posted in the paper I was so excited. Then it became a new passion. It felt great. Now writing here on the Vibes I get that same feeling.

Stay tuned for some new ideas that I have in mind for the future of  Cosmic Vibes to keep things interesting and provide you with more valuable information.

Thanks again.

Full Moon Review: Halloween Concerts 2009

Once again Halloween night was full of  live music choices of all genres in just about every market in the country. Let me start off with the costume party with Lotus at Sonar in Baltimore which is the show I chose to go see this year.  This was definitely one of the most fun Halloween shows I've been to. Everybody was revved up, dressed up and festive. There was a cool vibe, as there always is at Sonar. Big In Japan opened the show with a vibrant I guess you would say somewhat psychedelic set. The show was billed "Protein Pills In the Labyrinth" w/ Big in Japan and The Egg. Both opening bands were great. Then came the dance party which is Lotus.

The band all dressed as different David Bowie characters:

Luke - Ziggy Stardust
Jesse - Thin White Duke
Mike Rempel - Jareth (from the movie Labyrinth)
Mike Greenfield - Dancing in the Streets video David Bowie
Chuck - 80's pastel suit Bowie

1st set: Protein Pills In the Labyrinth, Wax, David Bowie* ,Hammerstrike-> Under Pressure#%->Hammerstrike, Tarasque,  Flower Sermon ->Suffragette City** -> Flower Sermon, Molluskunk , Fame**@ -> Afraid of Americans%^
------------
2nd Set: Tip of the Tongue, It's All Clear to Me Now -> Space Oddity** -> It's All Clear to Me Now ->128 -> Rebel Rebel** -> 128, Blacklight Sunflare, Age of Inexperience-> Let's Dance!**%-> Age of Inexperience

Needless to say it was a late night but definitely one for the books. Here are some photos I took at the show.
Lotus @ Sonar Photos

While Lotus was busy with rockin out the 80's with Bowie here's what the rest of the country was up to:

Phish held their first festival since Coventry dubbed Fest 8. It was held in the desert at The Empire Polo Grounds in Indio California. In the past Phish has traditionally done a cover of another artists album in full. After much anticipation and speculation they chose The Rolling Stones double album Exile On Main Street as the album they would interpret. It was a lot of fun for me listening on Sirius Jam On , reading everybody's twitter updates and looking at uploaded pictures from the fest. I can only imagine how much fun it was to be there.

Fresh Funk From The New Mastersounds: The State Theater 11/05/09

A friend recently told me that I must go check out the British funk band The New Mastersounds. Last night I had the privilege to experience the British boogaloo funk as they refer to it. Now I am here to tell you that if you dig the funk, you absolutely need to check this band out. I was blown away by their tight grooves, time changes, west coast jazz/funk vibe and most of all the super tight seemingly effortless song endings. Just superb musicianship.

Eddie Roberts: Guitar & Tambourine / Producer & Bandleader, Joe Tatton ( Hammond Organ / Fender Rhodes / Tambourine), Pete Shand: (Bass Guitar, Simon Allen):Drums, are a funk force to be reckoned with. I had to leave early under my own protest due to it being a weeknight show. That being said, every minute of it was energetic and down right funky. I will definitely put this band on my 50 mile radius list ( bands that I would travel by car 50 miles to see).

They play tonight in Baltimore at The 8 x 10, tomorrow night at The Bowery ballroom in NYC, check out more dates here NM Dates

Here are some pictures I took at the show
