Greg Kot of The Chicago Tribune confirmed today that Tool and The Killers will join Depeche Mode, Jane's Addiction and The Beastie Boys for Lollapalooza 2009 in Chicago's Grant Park. The full line up be announced on April 1st.
The Killers, Tool: Lollapalooza headliners
Perry Farrell also had some things to say about the leaks of the Lollapalooza headliners, and hinted at a "who's who of electronic artists". It just keeps getting more exciting everyday.

Perry also sat down with Rolling stone after ripping through their set at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas for a great interview touching on The tour, a "Hot new single", getting along with the guys and Trent Reznor being referee in studio.
Here are some inspiring words from the article "When you hear a song that you know and love, there’s very few things in this world that can instantly bring a feeling to you. Movies can’t do that, coke — you can get that occasionally, but it goes away after the first or second hit. But a song isn’t going to harm you and give you a terrible hangover, but it can make you feel a certain way. Music is so powerful, and that’s why we’re here.” Perry farrell

Emergence
My friend Dan called me yesterday and informed me that the drummer in their band Emergence skipped town. He then proceeded to ask me if I am interested to take his place and that they have a gig scheduled for April 18th. Of course I said yes. Dan said I would have a little homework to do learning the songs (about 12-14), I am totally up for the challenge and will be practicing as soon as I get my hands on a cd.
I've know Dan for about two years now and have jammed with him from time to time. They play original songs and I believe a few covers. The music is jam rock with influences of MOE, Phish, Dead, Allman Brothers and others in that genre. I went and checked them out a few weeks ago and really dug it. Dan fronts the band playing guitar, keys and singing and then there is a bass player with some really funky rhythms, right now his name escapes me, I've only met him once.
We will be playing at http://www.dogwoodtavern.com/ in Falls Church Virginia on 4/18/09 probably 9pm. If you are local here in VA, DC or MD please come out and check it out. Dogwood is right around the corner from The State Theatre and across the street from Four Provinces. It's a great bar with great food, great vibes and a friendly staff.
Hope to see you there

NIN/Jane's Addiction Tour/Lollapalooza 2009
Happy Spring:)
If you read this blog you know by now that Jane's Addiction is back together with it's original line up for the first time in 17 years. Also the first time these two bands (NIN/Jane's)have shared a bill since the first Lollapalooza in 1991. Monday of this week kicked off the pre sales in most cities around the country. Today the band heads to Austin Texas to play another private show, for invited fans only at the SXSW festival. This will be ther fourth show since the bands recent reconception, and the first outside it's home town of Los Angelas
It's safe to say that my Jane's Addiction Addiction has kicked into high gear. This is an exciting time for me and many other people just like me across the country who share the love for Jane's Addiction and as well as fans who share the same love for NIN and Trent Reznor. The ticket prices were a little high, however it is a three band bill with three solid performers. NIN/Jane's, and Tom Morello's (of Rage and Audioslave) new project Street Sweeper. That being said I heard today on the radio that it's $140 to see Def Leppard at Jones Beach which, in my opinion is a rip off.
The Lollapalooza line up should be out by April 1st, so far Janes addiction/Depeche Mode/Beastie Boys and Kings of Leon are confirmed headliners. Last years Lollapalooza sold 225,000 tickets over the three day weekend. The most out of all festivals last summer. I've already secured my ticket by purchasing a Lollapalooza Golden Ticket of which 1000 were released on the internet for $60. Regular price tickets are around $200 for a weekend pass. Stay tuned for more line up information. Tips on the festival, inside information and more as the festival gets closer. This is a great festival in a great city. It's going to be lots of fun for all who attend.
Can't wait for Kidzapalooza http://www.kidzapalooza.com/

Re post about Lollapalooza leaks
This is the link from where the original Lollapalooza leak came from. I copied and pasted from xiola.org, which is where I get a lot of my facts and inside scoop on Janes. It wasn't until I read Greg Kot's blog(of The Chicago Tribune) that I realized this info was lifted word for word from this blog. So I wanted to give the proper link to where the info came from.

Falls Church Farmers Market
Now that I am back to normal after my Janes Addiction frenzy that has taken up much of the past three weeks of my life, I can write about other things that I thought would be of interest especially to locals. I've had two chances to walk up to the falls church Farmers Market in the parking lot at city hall. 300 Park Ave. Falls Church Va. Both times it was an excellent experience. http://www.fallschurchva.gov/Content/Government/Departments/CommunityServices/RecsParks/FarmersMarket.aspx
First of all let me say that I love cooking and creating meals from the planning process to the serving process. It is something that I learned a lot about while working in restaurants for 15 years. I always loved the cooking aspect of it but hated dealing with bitchy customers. Coming up with the ideas and putting it together is just as much fun for me as preparing it. It's yet another form of art that I love to partake in. That being said I went to the farmers market with some ideas in mind already to accommodate some of the free range roasts and chicken breasts that I had in my freezer.
The Saturday that I chose to walk up was a spring like day with temps in the mid fifties. Perfect weather for a walk up to the outdoor market, especially nice for mid February. When I arrived it was thriving with customers walking, talking and sipping their coffee from hondo coffee http://www.hondocoffee.com/. I continued to walk through passing venues such as Cavanna Homemade Fresh Pasta which will be good on another visit when I have a pasta dish in mind. The next booth I arrived at was Atwater bakery out of Baltimore http://www.atwaters.biz/. I couldn't pass up the many different types of bread aromas wafting through the air. I stopped by and picked up a loaf of rosemary Italian to go with my beef stew I was planning on preparing. It also ended up as a nice chicken breast panini with fresh lettuce and tomatoes that I picked up at Potomac vegetable Farms http://www.potomacvegetablefarms.com/. The produce at this venue was extraordinary for the middle of winter. As I said I picked up some romaine, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, a few small sweet cucumbers, that went into a salad. I also grabbed some giant sweet potatoes, white potatoes, celery, carrots, onions that all went into the beef stew. Everything turned out delicious and is now history. There were at least 15 other booths to visit which I will, but had no need for. Others included a fresh salsa and chip vendor, organic mushrooms, local seafood/crab cakes vendor, soups, honey's, apple butter, pastries, and more.
I was floored by the quality of the foods that I bought, the friendliness of all the vendors and other customers, and the great local community vibe this market has. Except after hearing a gentlemen say to his kids "ok kids wanna go to Starbucks". It doesn't get more non local then that. I mean is that what it's come down to. There is a perfectly good coffee vendor right here at the market and this guy wants to go to Starbucks and spend $4 on a coffee that quite frankly I don't even think is that good. I highly recommend this market, it is open Saturdays from 9 until noon. I think it will only get better come spring time.
Happy trails
